Late 1800's- Captain Dan Reid and his band of Texas Rangers are slain in an ambush. The only survivor of the massacre is Dan's younger brother John. After burying his comrades and digging a sixth fake grave for himself, John Reid fashions a mask from his dead brother's vest and protects the frontier as the Lone Ranger. He finds time to visit his nephew Dan Reid Jr and serves as an inspiration to him. When Dan Jr grows up, he becomes a journalist and founds his own newspaper the Daily Sentinel. His second son Britt Elijah Reid inherits the Sentinel after a stint as a crime reporter.

1936- Britt Reid decides to fight the threat of organized crime by operating outside the law. Inspired by his legendary grand-uncle, Britt creates the identity of the Green Hornet while his valet Ikano Kato aids him as his masked sidekick. With their armored car the Black Beauty, the Green Hornet and Kato fight crime while playing to the public belief that they are hoods themselves. Though they perform no real crimes, this stigma gains them a level of trust with their criminal prey and the duo use that trust to besiege the underworld from within. The Green Hornet and Kato remain active throughout the Depression years and into World War II.

1945- Britt settles down to marry Ruth Hopkins. They have a daughter named Diana, who will grow up to become the city's District Attorney. Ikano returns to Japan and founds the electronics giant Nippon Tomorrow, fathering three sons of his own and a daughter by another woman.

1968- Britt's namesake nephew, Britt II, inherits management of the Daily Sentinel and its affiliated media outlets. He becomes the new Green Hornet after a presidential candidate and college roommate of his is assassinated by a pro-war munitions maker. Ikano's eldest son Hayashi helps construct the second Black Beauty and serves Britt II as the second Kato.

1972- Britt II's brother Tom Reid and his wife Mary die in a plane crash. Britt II adopts their orphaned sons Alan and Paul to raise as his own.

1979- Britt II lays down the mantle after suffering a heart attack. He is also framed for the murder of mobster Joey DeVane.

1986- Alan Reid becomes the third Green Hornet. His career is short-lived, and he is killed in a trap set by the DeVane family.

1989- Paul succeeds Alan as the fourth Green Hornet, taking Mishi Kato and later Hayashi as his sidekick.
